According to a new analysis by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, distracted driving deaths are on the rise.  The report is based on data from 2011.

The report shows that overall, traffic fatalities fell 1.9 percent in 2011, marking the lowest level since 1949.  But despite this overall downward trend, the number of people killed in distracted driving-related accidents rose by 1.9 percent, from 3,267 in 2010 to 3,331 last year.
