TC Palm is reporting from Indian River County that a woman is dead from a single vehicle car crash that occurred Tuesday morning. In this accident, the vehicle in question rolled over, ejecting a woman who was later pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
The accident happened on Interstate 95 north near Vero Beach. Dead is Silvana Lopez, a 50 year old Lake Worth resident who was a passenger in the wrecked vehicle that crashed at approximately 9:45 AM.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Lopez was not restrained by a seat belt. The vehicle that crashed, an SUV, was driven by Mariana Orellana, 23, of West Palm Beach. The initial report determined that Orellana lost control of the 1998 Ford Explorer while being driven in the center lane.
The FHP stated that Orellana suffered minor injuries, while her two other passengers were seriously injured. The two are West Palm Beach resident Doris Vazquez, 41, and Lantana resident Doris Gonzalez, 47.
All three women were received by Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, authorities are quoted as saying.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated, the FHP states, but alcohol has been ruled out as a factor.
