WFLX.com is reporting that a 62-year-old pedestrian has been identified as the man who died Monday night after being struck by two vehicles. This according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department.
Authorities say that J.L. Miller, a sixty-two year old Port St. Lucie resident, was run down in the 200 block of Port St. Lucie Boulevard at approximately 8:00 PM.
Police said Miller was crossing from the north side of the road, walking south in the 200 block of SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard at the time of the accident.
Miller in fact got across the westbound lanes, and was proceeding past the median when he attempted to cross the eastbound lanes.
Occurring at that same moment, Samuel Metellus, a thirty year old Port St. Lucie resident, was driving east on Port St. Lucie Boulevard in the center lane, entering into the left lane of the roadway.
As Metellus went to switch lanes, Miller, went backwards in the middle of the street and was hit by the front right of Metellus’ car.
The collision threw Miller to the north side of the street, landing in the left lane of westbound traffic.
Another driver, Pedro Sanchez, 33, of Port St. Luice, was proceeding in a 2017 Dodge Van traveling west. Because of this, Sanchez hit Miller as he landed in the westbound lane of traffic.
Miller was declared dead at the scene by St. Lucie County Fire Rescue.
Neither Metellus or Sanchez suffered any injuries in the crash.
Traffic homicide investigators continue to investigate the accident.
