In a media press release just issued, the Florida Highway Patrol reports that a pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning as the result of a two car automobile collision. The accident occurred on Northbound I-95 outside of Palm City at Mile Marker 99.

Frank Maurissin, 48, of Miami, was standing behind a Toyota parked in the outside travel lane on I-95. Maurissin and the Toyota were both struck by a 1999 GMC Suburban driven by Daniel Gillett, 22, of Hobe Sound. Maurissin was killed and pronounced dead at the scene. Gillett suffered no injuries but his passenger, Jessica Cleri, was taken to Martin Memorial South with minor injuries.

The accident continues to be under investigation. We will update this post as more information becomes available.
