The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting on the critical injuries that were incurred by a Road Ranger in the line of duty.

Critically wounded is Michael Weber, 57, of Lake Worth.

The accident happened on I-95, approximately one mile south of SR 808 in Palm Beach County. The time was 10:20 PM on August 8th.

The FHP states that Weber was on the east shoulder of I-95, acting in behalf of his duties as a Road Ranger.

A BMW driver, George Rocher, 29, of Delray Beach was driving northbound at the time of the accident. He stated that he was forced out of lane by another driver as both vehicles approached a work zone lane closure. Attempting to avoid the Road Ranger’s vehicle, Rocher swerved and ran into Weber instead.

The FHP has released no other details at this time. It is assumed that the accident investigation is ongoing.
