The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the suspect in a hit and run crash that happened on May 1st, an event that killed motorcyclist Michael James.
As the FHP press release states, a Nissan pickup struck James from behind on I-95, causing him to be thrown off his bike and into the path of the Nissan. The location was in the northbound lanes of I-95 near mile marker 106 in Martin County.
The truck was later identified as belong to, or under the control of, Jason Nichols, 45, of Port St. Lucie. Mr. Nichols turned himself in to authorities Wednesday morning and he was subsequently arrested.
Nichols is charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death and tampering with evidence.
