The TC Palm reported that a 64-year-old motorcyclist was killed after being knocked off his motorcycle by one vehicle and being ran over by a second car about 3 miles south of the Martin Downs Boulevard exit in Stuart.

The Florida Highway Patrol identified the victim was on a 2003 Harley Davidson northbound in the outside lane when he was struck by a 2012 Honda Civic.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that both the Honda Civic and the motorcycle were traveling northbound when the driver of the civic failed to see the motorcyclist stopping for other traffic, and struck the rear of the motorcycle with her car.

The impact caused the victim, who was wearing a protective helmet, to be thrown into the emergency breakdown lane. The motorcyclist was then hit by a second vehicle, a 2008 Ford Edge.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the two vehicles that struck the motorcycle did not sustain any injuries. The northbound lanes on the Florida Turnpike in Martin County were closed for about four hours.
