The Florida Highway Patrol reports that Joseph A. Nemits, 19, of Sebastian, died Wednesday morning as the result of a four vehicle car and pickup truck crash on US-1 approaching 73rd Street in Indian River County. The accident was also written about by TCPalm.com. They say the crash was a rollover.
According to a FHP press release, Nemits’ car was traveling north on US-1 approaching 73d Street. At the same time, a vehicle driven by Pedro Jackques, 36, of Tamarac, was stopped in the right lane of US-1. Another vehicle, driven by Michael Hutchinson, 25, of Port Saint Lucie, was coming to a stop in the left lane of US-1.
For reasons not made clear or not yet known, Nemits’ Kia struck the rear of Hutchinson’s vehicle. Another vehicle was hit in the process, this being a Dodge pickup driven by Lyle Luedtke, 53, of Sebastian.
The crash remains under investigation.
