The Florida Highway is reporting tonight that Harvington Smith was killed in a highway accident that occurred at 1:00 PM. The accident was in the southbound lane of I-95 in Palm Beach County. Another man was seriously injured.
The FHP states in a press release that a Lexus driven by Tyler Trotman, 21, of Fort Lauderdale, suffered a tire failure, causing that vehicle to go out of control.
When Trotman lost command of the Lexus, the vehicle spun out in front of a semi-truck driven by Heinthie King, 47, of Louisville, Kentucky. That semi-truck hit the rear of the Lexus, killing Smith, 25, of Dania Beach, Florida and seriously injuring Trotman.
A passenger in the Lexus, Rackeem Taylor, was not injured. The driver of the semi-truck was also not injured.
The FHP says that the accident investigation is continuing.
