The Florida Highway Patrol has issued an official press release detailing a fatal accident that occurred today at 1:22 PM. The accident scene was US-1 and Vista Royale in Indian River County.
Dead is the driver of one of the vehicles, Giulio Rovis, 87, of Vero Beach. Rosa Rovis, 84, also of Vero Beach, was a passenger in the vehicle and she was seriously injured.
Injured in the second vehicle was the driver, Angelica Malisham, 22, of Vero Beach. The passenger in her car, Christopher Edwards, 35, also of Vero Beach, was seriously injured.
As the FHP relates, Giulio Rovis was traveling southbound on US-1 in the left turn lane approaching the intersection of Vista Royale in a Nissan Versa. Malisham was traveling northbound on US-1 in the outside lane approaching the intersection of Vista Royale in a Chevrolet Sonic. Rovis failed to observe Malisham’s vehicle traveling northbound while making a left turn into Vista Royale in her travel lane. The front of Malisham’s vehicle struck the left front of the Nissan. Giulio Rovis died at Indian River Medical Center.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
