The Palm Beach Daily News reports that Evelyn V. Steadman, 60, of Lauderdale Lakes, was charged with failure to yield to a group of cyclists. On Monday evening she turned into a group of bicyclists on North County Road, seriously injuring a 56 year old man, who has yet to be identified.
The police accident report states that Steadman was traveling northbound on North County Road at about 7:30 p.m. She used her turn signal, indicating she wanted to turn left onto South Woods Road. For reasons not exactly clear, she turned directly into the group of 25 to 30 cyclists.
The man injured suffered what are called “extensive traumatic injuries” and he was rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center. He is said to now be in good condition. Two other cyclists were injured but those two refused medical aid.
