According to the Florida Highway Patrol and PalmBeachPost.com, Donald Maloney, 83, of Stuart, was killed Tuesday afternoon when the car he was a passenger in collided with another vehicle. Maloney was one of two passengers in a car driven by Dennis Scarborough, 60, also of Suart. Rosary Burbank, 75, was the second passenger and she is in the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Scarborough is also in critical condition.
Although the crash is still under investigation, the FHP states that the accident happened when a Chevrolet driven by Shawn Allen Tefft, 45, of Stuart, struck Scarborough’s car as Scarborough attempted to turn onto Fischer Street from U.S. 1, near the Lowe’s Home Improvement Center. Tefft’s passenger, Laura Tefft, suffered minor injuries. The crash resulted in a rollover.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time, however, the accident investigation continues as of today. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
