The Florida Highway Patrol reports that Cheryle Darlene Coons, 58, of Vero Beach, was critically injured this morning in a multiple vehicle accident involving one car and two big-rig trucks.
The accident occurred at the intersection of County Road 606 (Oslo Road) and 66th Avenue Southwest in Indian River County. Coon’s vehicle was stopped at the stop sign on 66th. A Mack truck, driven by Shawn Kearby, 36, of Port St. Lucie, turned into the intersection as another truck was waiting. That big rig was driven by Ricardo Pasqual, 42, of Vero Beach.
As Kearby’s truck proceeded through the intersection, Coon’s car pulled in front of his vehicle. The left front of her car collided with the right front of the truck, the force then causing Kearby’s truck to hit Pasqual’s vehicle.
Kearby and Pasqual suffered minor injuries. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. We will have more information here as it becomes available.
Update: TCPalm is now reporting on the accident. They say the woman’s name is Cheryl, not Cheryle as the FHP reported. We will leave both spellings in this post until we know which one is correct.
