TCPalm.com is reporting from Gifford that a twenty-year old bicyclist named Rakeya Jackson was seriously wounded in a collision with a car that happened Tuesday night.
According to Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Al Feola, Port St. Lucie resident Jackson was cycling in the 4200 block of US 1 when a Honda collided with her at approximately 8:30 PM.
She was transported by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute where she was received in a serious, life threatening condition.
Jackson’s condition had improved by Wednesday, said Corey Richter, an authority with Indian River County Fire Rescue.
The car that crashed into Jackson was driven by Barefoot Bay resident Jacquelyn Armstrong, 64. Neither Armstrong nor a passenger of hers accepted medical treatment at the scene, Richter said.
Feola said the accident investigation is continuing.
