WPTV.com is reporting from Vero Beach that bicyclist Christopher Hannon, age unknown, of Melbourne Beach, was fatally struck by a car on Friday afternoon.
According to Vero Beach police, Hannon was fatally wounded by a 1998 Chevrolet as he was proceeding through the Indian River Blvd. and the Merrill P. Barber Bridge intersection.
There is no word at this time on the identity of the automobile driver.
Hannon was received at the Indian River Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
A traffic homicide investigation is ongoing; Vero Beach Police ask anyone who saw the crash, and has not yet spoken to law enforcement, to contact them at 772-978-4600.
