The Florida Highway Patrol reports today that pedestrian Samuel Goldstein, 36, of Palm Beach Gardens, is in critical condition as the result of being hit by a car on I-95 while he walked along the roadway following a traffic accident.

The FHP states that Goldstein was driving southbound in a Nissan Maxima on I-95. At the same time, a Dodge Ram driven by Robert Hansen, 61, of Port St. Lucie, was also traveling in the same direction.

At some point, Goldstein’s vehicle struck the rear of Hansen’s vehicle. This caused Goldstien’s Maxima to veer into the center median.  Hansen pulled off the roadway following the accident. Goldstein exited his vehicle and attempted to cross I-95. It was then that he was hit by a Honda CRV driven by Posnel Aristene, 34, of Port St. Lucie. Goldstein was gravely injured and received by St. Mary’s Hospital in critical condition.

The accident remains under investigation.
