Pedestrian Clay Fischer Killed in Car Crash on Southwest Martin Highway

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that pedestrian Clay Fischer, 26, Palm City resident, was killed early this morning when he was run over by a vehicle driven by Christopher Koch, 51, of Port St. Lucie.

The accident occurred at 3:37 AM at the intersection of Southwest Martin Highway and Southwest Berry Avenue in Palm City.

FHP troopers state that the vehicle of Koch, a Ford Focus, was proceeding eastbound on SW Martin Highway in the right lane. As he passed the intersection of SW Berry Avenue, the pedestrian Clay Fischer was also in the right lane. Fischer was struck and pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
