An official press release from the Florida Highway Patrol reports that three people were injured, one critically, in a two car collision Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred on State Route 79 and South Header Canal Road in St. Lucie County.

The reporting officer says a Dodge Caravan driven by 74 year old Mary Gamba of Palm City failed to stop at a stop sign. In so doing, she hit a 2015 Ford Escape driven by Gary Fralix, 47, of Okeechobee.

The FHP is charging Gamba with running a stop sign.

Gamba is at Lawnwood Regional with serious injuries. Fralix is in critical condition. The passenger in his car, Johnnie Fralix, is also at Lawnwood with serious injuries.
