The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a 40 year old Boynton Beach man, Johnston Andrew Zuccala, was killed this morning while trying to cross I-95 in Palm Beach County.
The accident occurred on southbound I-95 south of Donald Ross Road in the Juno Beach area.
The official FHP press release states that Andrew G. Borrows, 32, of Jupiter, was traveling southbound in a 2015 Dodge Charger at 5:03 this morning. At the same time, Zuccala was crossing I-95 from the west to the east on foot, apparently from a vehicle parked on the west shoulder of the roadway. The car driven by Borrows collided with and killed Zuccala. Zuccala was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
Everyone at DeBerard Injury Attorney is deeply saddened by this tragedy. We extend our sympathies to all those involved.
Every motorist on Florida roads is charged with the duty of operating their vehicle in a safe manner. If that duty is not properly discharged there may be grounds for a wrongful death suit in case of a fatality.
Update: The FHP has corrected the spelling of the victim. Zuccala is the proper spelling.
Update: The PalmBeachPost.com states that the driver of the Dodge Charger, Andrew Borrows, is a Jupiter policeman. He was going home from work at the time of the crash.
