The PalmBeachPost.com reports that Cody Troska, 26, died in a boating accident Sunday evening near the Fort Pierce Inlet State Park in St. Lucie County.

Authorities say the boat that killed Troska was driven prior to the accident by 20 year old Pompano Beach resident Dominic Dragan. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission accident report states that eyewitnesses observed Dragan piloting the craft in circles and appearing to be “showing off.”

At one point Dragan was thrown out of the boat, whereupon three men tried to get onto the boat to prevent it from harming Dragan. The three were Troska, Port St. Lucie resident Luke Muccigrosso, 22, and Andres Blanco, also 22. Troska died in the attempt and Muccigrosso and Blanco were both injured.

The FWC report states alcohol may have been involved in the accident. The accident continues to be under investigation.

We at Philip DeBerard Injury Attorney wish to express our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the young man who was lost. We also hope that the investigation by the authorities will end up determining what really happened, for the peace of everybody involved.

Losing a loved one is an extremely difficult time for any family member or friend affected by the tragedy. If you have lost a loved one due to someone’s negligence, you may have the right to a wrongful death claim against the responsible party.
