The Florida Highway Patrol reports on a wreck that occurred early yesterday morning.

Abel Castin, 22, of Lantana, and Mario A. Carrasco, 54, of Orlando, were each driving northbound on I-95 north of Yamato Road early Thursday morning around 3:00 a.m. This was happening while FHP trooper Tommie Rodriguez was parked in the median of the freeway.

For reasons not clear in the report, Castin’s vehicle, a 2001 Toyota Avalon, struck Carrasco’s vehicle, a 2004 Dodge Neon. After this collision, Carrasco’s vehicle veered off to the right shoulder, while Castin’s vehicle hit the concrete barrier wall and struck the patrol car Rodriguez was in.

Castin suffered serious injuries while Carrasco suffered none. The FHP trooper suffered minor injuries. Castin was transported to the Boca Medical Center in Palm Beach County.

The crash remains under investigation. We will have additional details as more information becomes available.

We at Philip DeBerard Injury Attorney wish to extend our condolences to everyone connected to this accident. We know that such a mishap can have consequences that last for years.
