The Florida Highway Patrol reports that one man was killed and another seriously injured in a single car crash this afternoon in Indian River County. The accident happened on the southbound side of I-95 near Mile Marker 147.
Dead is Jordaneous Woolverton, 22, of Anniston, Alabama. Seriously injured is Shyheim Benton, 21, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
The FHP states that Ray Tresston, 23, of Anniston Alabama, was driving his 2003 Ford Expedition southbound on I-95 in the left inside lane in the area of Mile Marker 147. For an undetermined reason his vehicle started to enter the inside shoulder. He then lost control and overturned across the median and into the northbound lanes.
As Tresston’s vehicle overturned his right rear passenger, Jordaneous, was ejected from the Ford. Woolverton was transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. He had not been wearing a seat belt. The other passenger, Shyheim Benton, 21, Tuscaloosa, Alabama has serious injuries. Tresston has minor injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. We will have more information as it becomes available.
