WPTV.com reports that Sophie Walker, 30, was killed early Monday morning in Wellington because of a car crash. The accident occurred in the gated community of the Palm Beach Polo and Country Club on Sunnydale Drive. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera says that Andres Rodriguez, 31, failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of  the car he was driving. The vehicle struck a concrete pillar and possibly a tree.

Authorities say that Walker was declared dead at the scene, while Rodriguez was taken to the Delray Medical Center in critical condition. The PalmBeachPost.com says that Rodriguez is a resident of Wellington and a world-class show jumper. They add that the vehicle was a 1992 Porsche roadster.

We will have more information as it becomes available.

This is an update. Rodriguez succumbed to his injuries and has died.  CBS 12 says that investigators suspect drugs or alcohol are involved in the crash.

Tragedies like these happen far too often. We at DeBerard Injury Attorney extend our condolences to everyone touched by this accident.
