In an official Florida Highway Patrol press release, the FHP reports that three people died yesterday afternoon in a multiple car crash in Indian River County. The accident occurred on Southbound I-95 near Mile Marker 153 near Vero Beach.
The FHP states that a vehicle driven by Rex Allen Engle, 48, of Vero Beach, was traveling northbound on I-95 when for a unknown reason his pickup went out of control, crossing the grass median and striking two southbound vehicles, killing all three people in both cars.
The dead are listed as Cleveland Odom, 61, of Delray Beach, his passenger, Angelica Odom, 22, of Boynton Beach, and John P. Weed, 38, of Newton Falls, Ohio.
The investigation continues. It is not known if alcohol played any part in this wreck. Charges may be pending. Please check this post later for more details as they become available.
