Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Mac Mickens Seriously Injured in Palm Beach Gardens

Fox35Orlando reports that FHP trooper Mac Mickens, 60, was sent to the hospital with serious injuries after he was hit while conducting a traffic stop.

The accident occurred Sunday morning north of Palm Beach Gardens as the trooper walked back to his vehicle. Rubelsy Cano-Castillo, 24, swerved from his traffic lane and into the emergency lane, hitting trooper Mickens. Cano-Castillo’s vehicle continued to move, striking another vehicle. Mickens was thrown several feet in the air and rushed to the hospital. Cano-Castillo suffered minor injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate this accident and we will update this post as more information becomes available.
