Constance Jean Sasser, 53, was killed on Tuesday when the car she was in was struck by a semi-truck that ran a red light.

The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident, but they and the Orlando Sentinel report the following details.

The accident occurred just outside Apopka in Orange County.

The FHP states that 23-year-old Clemon Jones of Lake Wales was driving north-bound on Plymouth Sorrento Road when he ran a red light at the intersection of Kelly Park Road, violently colliding into Mary Nell Shay’s car, a Pontiac Grand Prix.

Mary Nell Shay, 52, was badly injured along with one of her passengers, 20-year-old Devin Shay. But her other passenger, Constance Sasser, later died at the Orlando Regional Medical center.

It’s not clear why Jones drove his semi-truck through the red light as the accident investigation is still continuing. Charges have not been brought. We will update you with any new developments as they occur.
