People typically want to get to their destinations quickly. The faster they drive, however, the greater the risk of a motor vehicle accident. Obviously, speeding is a very dangerous driving practice. It also contravenes the established rules of the road that require drivers to travel within a certain speed limit. A recent two-vehicle collision in Boynton Beach that seriously injured one driver is an example of how dangerous speeding can be.

According to Boynton Beach Police, one person sustained serious injuries after the white Ford he was driving was struck by another vehicle around 7:15 a.m.onDecember 2. A black Acura was reportedly traveling at an excessive speed down Congress Avenue, while the Ford was turning left into the Hunters Run community at Summit Drive and South Congress Avenue when the Acura struck the Ford. The Ford driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to Delray Medical Center. The two-vehicle crash blocked Congress Avenue for several hours.

Motorists who travel at high rates of speed may miss a stop light, not be able to stop in time when the traffic ahead slows down, or lose control of their vehicles. Speeding is a much too common scenario on Florida roadways.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, speeding is among the prevalent, yet most preventable causes of motor vehicle accidents. Driving too fast for the conditions is a contributing factor to one-third of all the country’s car accidents.

Whether speeding is due to aggressive driving, drunk driving, or careless driving, the result can be catastrophic. Injuries suffered by the victims of speeding drivers can include broken bones, spinal cord injuries, and brain injuries that can cause disability or even death in extreme cases.

Anyone injured by the negligence of a speeding driver may be entitled to recover damages for their injuries and losses. A Florida vehicle injury attorney can help speeding accident victims and their families obtain the compensation they deserve.
