The Port St. Lucie Police Department reported a fatal crash that killed an 86-year-old bicyclist on Monday afternoon. The rider, Adolf Lemp, was crossing Southwest St. Lucie West Boulevard, when a 2010 Toyota Camry struck him. A 47-year-old woman from Port St. Lucie, Linda Haggerty, was driving the vehicle.

According to witnesses, the car had a green light when the bicyclist crossed through the intersection.

Lemp was pronounced dead at the scene.

Similarly, another fatal bicycle accident occurred just a few weeks back. According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 64-year-old bicycle rider from Port St. Lucie died of serious injuries after he fell into the path of a car traveling on Airoso Boulevard.

At approximately 8:40 p.m., rider James Ritchey was traveling west along Selva Court when he hit a curb on Airoso Boulevard, which caused him to be thrown off his bicycle and straight into the path of an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the 2000 Honda Civic was unable to stop in time, and ran over Ritchey, who was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Both fatal accidents are still under investigation, although it is likely that no charges will be made against Haggerty.
