After more than two years, a Martin County jury found a 29-year-old man guilty on all counts in a Stuart, FL vehicular homicide case.

The case was filed after a car crash on September 29, 2010, at Kanner Highway and Pomeroy Street. The accident killed an 11-year-old girl and injured five other people, including the girl’s father and brothers.

Prior to the reading of the verdict, the prosecution brought out analysis that the suspect was driving at 69 mph and was running a red light when the accident happened. The prosecution experts also emphasized that this was reckless behavior.

The defendant received his sentence on August 16. The guilty verdict roused an emotional response not only from the defendant’s side, but also from the prosecution’s benches as well.

Florida courts are very busy with car accident cases these days. In 2011 alone, the state listed 117,903 car collisions that caused injuries and an additional 2,214 that resulted in fatalities.

A long-standing case like this one doesn’t come easy for victims families. They need an injury lawyer with real expertise, one who can successfully navigate the complications of the case.
