Man Dies After Crashing Into Port St. Lucie Home

A man died after the car he was driving crashed into a house at Southeast Floresta Drive in Port St. Lucie.

Police say they spotted the car at around 2:45 AM running erratically and fishtailing as it headed towards Floresta Drive. It then drove through a yard, bumped into a van, and finally slammed into the house.

No one in the house was injured, but Port St. Lucie County paramedics declared the driver dead on the scene. He was the only occupant in the car during the crash.

The accident is under investigation, and it is yet to be determined what made the driver lose control of his vehicle.

An accident like this is complicated for both the owner of the house and the family of the driver. The homeowner may seek compensation for the property damage caused by the crash. On the other hand, the driver’s family will try to justify that the accident wasn’t the fault of the driver and maybe see to file a wrongful death claim.

If it appears that the accident was caused by a defective car, the vehicle maker may have to carry the responsibility of compensating the victims family. Or, if it was a consequence of a dangerous road, some public agencies or even private entities might be held liable.
