New “Faces of Distracted Driving” Video Released

Mar 22, 2012 Posted by in Distracted Driving

In 2010, more than 3,000 Americans were killed in crashes involving a distracted driver. That’s why in November of that year, the U.S. Department of Transportation launched a video campaign known as “Faces of Distracted Driving,” which aims to illustrate the disastrous effects of texting and cell phone use while driving. This week, a new video was released.

The video features the story of Alison Holden, a single mom who was rear-ended by a distracted driver in April 2009. In the video, Alison explains that following the crash she was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury, and that as a result she struggled to care for her son.

“Distracted driving stole two years of my life. It robbed my son of two years with his mother,” said Alison. “No text message is important enough to risk ruining someone’s life.”
